BYOB
Bring what you like to drink. We'll have water & lemonade for the kids.
· hey neighbor ·
Pull up a chair. Bring something to share. Meet the folks on the three streets.
…and the first Saturday of every August after that, we hope.
A block party for the three streets that make up our neighborhood off Olde Eight: Kitner, Shady, and Oviatt.
BYOB. Potluck-style. Kids welcome. No fees, no formalities. Just neighbors, food, and an afternoon together.
Bring what you like to drink. We'll have water & lemonade for the kids.
Bring a dish and a pack of burgers or dogs to share. Grills going.
Cornhole, ladder ball, sidewalk chalk. Got more ideas? Let us know.
Who's been more fired up about this block party than anyone on the loop. His designs inspired the flyer, and he personally walked door to door delivering every single one. If a flyer brought you here, that was him.
Say hi at the party 👋
Our three streets are a midcentury slice of a much older story. Long before Kitner, Shady, and Oviatt were platted in the late 1950s, this corner of Northfield Center was already a community. George Leach settled nearby in Little York in 1832, shipping lumber out on the newly-completed Ohio-Erie Canal. The Brandywine Creek, much wider then than it is today, was joined here by Indian Run, draining the land that became Macedonia.
New Englanders from Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts brought their town-meeting traditions west with them. A bridge over the Brandywine. A few homesteads. A cheese factory. A church on the green. Now there's us. Three quiet streets off Olde Eight.
We'll close the street between the two ✕ marks.
We've coordinated with Northfield Center Township to close this stretch of the loop for the afternoon. One lane stays clear so emergency vehicles can pass through and hydrants stay accessible. Tables and chairs go on one side only.
The party itself is potluck. Bring a dish, bring a pack of burgers or hotdogs to share, we'll have grills going. But there's a couple of extras that'd make the day a lot better and cost actual money. We're funding them in order, and tier 1 has to hit for the party to happen. Porta potty first. Then the kegs. Every dollar past that goes into making the party better. We'll post the final total and where it all went after.
Handicap-accessible unit with sanitizer for the afternoon. $225 + tax + $100 delivery. Strongly recommended by neighbors who've thrown these before, so nobody needs to ask to use someone's bathroom. If we don't hit this goal, the party doesn't happen as planned and every contribution gets refunded.
Two domestic half-barrels from Heidelberg + cups + ice + tap rental. Once the porta is paid for, every additional dollar goes here.
Anything beyond the first two tiers goes into making the day better: more dogs and burgers for the grills, a third keg (maybe a craft one), condiments, better cups, kids' drinks, you name it. Every penny gets spent on the party. We'll post the final total and where it went on the FB group after.
One fund, three tiers. Deadline to chip in: July 12, same as the RSVP deadline. Goes through GoFundMe so your card info doesn't sit on our laptop. If tier 1 doesn't fund by July 12, every contribution gets refunded through GoFundMe.
Are you a local business? If you'd like to sponsor a piece of this in exchange for a shout-out at the party and on our Facebook group, knock on 7643 Kitner or call (330) 428-3462.
Take a peek before you sign up so we don't all bring chips.
Takes about a minute. Promise. RSVP by July 12 so we have time to prep.
Thanks. Scroll up to see your name above.
